Looking to fit a winch this summer to my trooper. Going to get an arb style winch bumper but then just need to know how you all are mounting your winches? Making up plates to weld to chassis and then bolt winch to it?

Been done a few times .. (try searching "winch mount" or similar)

Mine is a mk4 , I kind of copied Gribble's design but altered to suit my build .

I think the mk3 is a wee bit different at front (I could be wrong) ..

If your looking for some ideas about what to bolt/weld to then search Warn 8274 on a Mk4  in the forums and work back from there .

Gary820 did a very nice mount on his old blue monster 3.1  for a low mount winch .

I did a fair one too but the went to the warn  8274 upright  type so  a few mods  were needed .

All depends on how good you are at making bits and if you want a recovery or a  competition event type winch set up or even a bit of both  Wink
