I'm thinking about swapping my 3.0 ticking bomb for a V6 petrol  Shocked
Has anyone done this or got any ideas? I'm looking at a 3.2 with LPG, which I then want to modify....
Or...how about an LLR 5 pot... Very Happy

Your gearing will be shot if you go that way.

does the petrol run a different gearbox, or did they change the final drives?

The gearing might not be too bad, my monty cruises at 70mph around 3000rpm, which is fairly high for a diesel, and that would be roughly where you'd want to be in a petrol anyway.

What do you mean by LLR 5pot? Landrover TD5? or something else?

Its the differential ratios that change between petrol and diesel. I also think that the petrol and diesel autoboxes are different as well. Not sure about the manual boxes. You would be better just getting another truck ... especially when you have to convince the Insurance company and DVSA about it all. They will be wanting to see qualified mechanic certs, and all sorts. I have looked into this sort of thing myself.

Am I right in thinking the Isuzu 3.2 V6 lump found in the B series Frontera common to those fitted in the later petrol Troopers?
See a few of them around being broken. Dare say it would mean a complete donor motor with all the electronic gizmos to ensure compatibiliy with ECU etc. and all that stuff that is required.

Your right Pedro, and I think the Frontera uses the same gearbox. However Vauxhall fitted different diff's from what I can tell .. and they have a reputation of not being quite as strong.

I've spent a fortune modding the chassis and body, which I would never get back if I sold it.
My engine is running perfectly, so I could sell it to cover the replacement costs, plus I want to keep this one, I've had it a while now!
The LLR is the big commercial range of engines, don't think one would fit really, but it would go a bit if it went in!
