Is there much you can do to the 3.1 diesels for extra power? Possible to mess about with the boost?
Cheers in advance

A lot in short
More fuel, more air, more boost, more intercooling... but if your going to play with the boost, get a propper boost gauge and an ETG _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

Yep, front mount intercooler, pump optimisation then maybe boost increased. A free flow filter and bigger exhaust may also help a little. Also replace the viscous fan with an electric setup and remove any power sapping accesories like roofracks, bullbars etc. _________________ Phil

I have just finished playing with mine, so far I have done the following....
Blanked off EGR valves
Adusted fueling screw
Fitted K&N induction kit (got hold of a rover 220 kit and it went straight on)
and with these 3 cheap mods ( about £55 for the K&N) it really has transformed the car to a much more sports (if I dare use that word) like drive.
Will be towing next month with it so looking foward to see if the torque has improved because it really is a diffrent car !
now should I play with the turbo boost........ mmmmm |

Hi Guys,
I've also got a 3.1td. While i realise that these aven't rocket ships they do get along....
In reply to Little Troopers post:
Where is the fueling screw? Roughly how much to adjust for a sensible increase in power?
This is the first Oil- Burner i've had. I've just got rid of my modified petrol 2-litre turbo Saab with 225bhp.
Cheers

look on the back of the injection pump ,at 1oclock there is a metal security cover over the mixture screw prize it off ,it can be awkward ,underneath is a screw and lock nut ,undo the locknut and turn the screw 1/3 turn clockwise ,tighen locknut ,testdrive ,it might nead abit of fine ajustment either way but 1/3 is usually about right, not too much black smoke, expect 10/15 more bhp. |

check out this link and half way down you will see a dodge ram link with a picture of your pump and the location of the screw....
www .itocuk.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=7191&sid=52dcd750e52326c836e410ad0602cf83
I gave mine half a turn in and then had to take the idle back down as it went up to about 1100rpm, I could have gone a bit more with the screw but then it started to smoke under load.
Had to put the space in the link as it wouldnt let me post it. |
