My '93 Bighorn SE has the electric leather seats, but due to age and 'heavy' driver, the seat base springs have either snapped or stretched. The leather is in really good condition with no rips or tears and the stitching is good too.

So, simple questions.

1. How difficult is it to remove & install front electric seats?
2. Are these special to the motor trade, or are they the same standard 9 gauge zig-zag sofa upholstery springs and what size are needed?
3. Has anyone repaired or replaced their springs?

and most important
4. Did it work?

Also, if it's a PITA,
5. How much would I expect an upholsterer charge to replace the springs once out of the car and stripped down?

Regards

Well I got my seat out yesterday, not too much trouble once you've removed the plastic trim. The electric seat is very heavy. Stripping it down to find the springs wasn't difficult, just took a while. Found a Mk3 in a local breakers and got the springs from the passenger side (thought they would have less wear  Wink  ). Replaced the broken spring in less than a minute. Spent the next hour or so putting it back together and Hey-Presto! not such a 'soggy bottom'.
Now I need to source a good foam seat pad
