I have an Isuzu Bighorn, 1 battery. Symptoms are that the battery discharges if I use electrics, lights heating etc. The faster I go the less the battery charges. If I leave it idling for a couple of hours the battery reaches nearly normal voltage. I have replaced the battery and still the same problem. Could it be the alternator? I have tried to tighten the belt already.. PP Help.

Because it will be charging, just not enough to keep everything running.

Excellent, I will try to get a recon alternator up here in the highlands of Scotland. How difficult are they to replace?? Is it a problem removing the water pump??
