|
|
Hi All,
3.1 Bighorn is burning oil, smoking through it's dip stick, rocker cover pipe, intake full of oil, no smell of diesel in whats left of the oil, engine sounds ok, revs ok stationary couldn't possibly drive it.
Bought as is, very, very good condition other wise so worth saving.
It has a strange egr (well new to me) set up, two blanks with a small tank in front of them, hose from rocker cover connected one side, other side runs to the intake plastics, small hose connects to the dip stick..
with the filler cap off it pours smoke out, also from the rocker hose if removed from the egr tank, dip stick too so massive crank case pressure along with clouds of smoke out of the exhaust..
Covered 140k, the rest of the truck has been very well looked after so I would guess served regularly too..
Could this be a very knackered turbo..?
Cheers,
db. |

sounds more like head gasket or scored bores, the tank is a catch tank to filter out oil from the breathing system if it hasn't got a drain going back to the engine it needs to be emptied if it gets full |

|
|
Hi,
Making progress on removing the head, stuck with exhaust and A/C pump removal, lower bolt holding bold for the a/C put appears inaccessible (to me), also which is the best way to detach the exhaust, leave the manifold on and separate the down pipe allowing the whole turbo unit along with the manifold to e removed still attached to the head..?
Cheers,
