Just returned to the Isuzu world with a 3.1 Bighorn and it is so nice except...

As the title suggests, it sometimes stalls when backing off the throttle or under braking. Occasionally when just idling too. Being a slushomatic I can't use the drivetrain to keep the engine turning so rapidly remembering the skill of left foot braking.

There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to it, happens both hot and cold, seemingly completely randomly. Sometimes every time the throttle is backed off, sometimes just once or twice a day, and all variations in between

The knob below/left of the dash, which I presume is a fast idle control does sometimes help, but it means sitting there at traffic lights at 1500rpm, and makes slow-speed driving almost impossible, a big problem with the number of 20 limits round here.

Have you tried changing any filters ?
Air filters can cause all sorts of issues if not looked after.
I'd recommend oil and filter too unless you know it's been done lately.

All done, first thing I do on a car new to me is run through all them.
