My 3.0TD went bang recently. I bought it (a 2002 citation) 4 months ago and had not heard of any recalls or problems. Up till now I have had 3.1's and decided to get a more modern Trooper. BIG MISTAKE!! I did think recently the oil gauge was reading a bit lower than before and checked the oil. Great I thought this one hasn't used any oil, not knowing the sump was full of derv and not oil. When overtaking a car it suddenly gave out loads of smoke and started revving on its own then started knocking noises. I couldn't stop it until it eventually went dead.
There are broken pistons, the bores are well scored and bits of debris has knackered the head as well. My local garage guy reckoned the sump had filled with derv and the injector seals was to blame, he reckoned a second hand unit was best replacement.
Couldn't find a decent engine so bought a damaged Trooper and this is why I have the donor car for spares. (Need to recoup some of my losses) I then found out about the recalls.
I have not had any recall notices, the guy I bought it from never said anything.
I contacted my local dealer, and gave them the chassis numbers of my own car and the donor one, they said both the donor engine and my old one should be recalled.... sometime for injectors replacement. They were sure neither needed injector seals replaced but needed the injectors themselves replaced.
Not sure which way to turn now. I don't want it going bang again waiting for recall. |

just keep a close eye on the oil level whilst you are waiting for the recalls any sign of it rising get it to the dealer quick, if you had done with your original engine isuzu would probably have put another engine in brand new for free. |
