|

My 3.0D Auto has just reached the 2 year old point and most things are holding up well after 43,000miles.
Best thing is fuel consumption, which is always in the 28-30 MPG range. Not bad for an Auto with air-con and not driven by a pensioner!
Worst thing is probably the braking! 2 tonnes of auto car seems to take a hell of a lot of stopping and sometimes I feel that it should be better.
Does anybody know of any performance front discs, such as the EBC slotted type, that are made in the right size? I think EBC part GD637 should be right but the dealer I spoke to said they don't exist (despite being listed in the USA catalogue!).
Also, would braided hoses be worth a go, and can anybody recommend a good make of replacement shockabsorber, they are on the way out and not helping the braking to much.
Thanks

I've tried for years to obtain uprated discs for the Trooper. There is an application I discovered earlier this year but the cost was into 3 figs per disc. I settle for good quality pads (currently Delphi) from a good factor. They are an improvement over standard, however its worth remembering that with ABS the "is it ever going to stop" feeling is not uncommon. In an emergency I know well that it stops on it's nose. |

Thanks JohnN,
I have been using the EBC kevlar pads which are an improvement, and don't foul the wheels with brake dust (an amazing transformation from the OEM ones).
If I get anywhere with the performance disc's I'll let you know.
Cheers
