Greetings to all - new to this forum.

We recently got a 2.8TD Citation LWB, 1991 on a J plate.

Someone had fitted spotlights to it that come on with the main beams. They wired a signal cable for an extra relay for the spots into the connector for the main beam at the back of one of the headlights. The other side of that relay has a fused circuit for the spots taken directly off the battery positive terminal. The signal wire turns out to have a bare patch - which shorted out against something on Sunday and took the main beams and the spots with it. Rolling Eyes

This is where it gets fun without a manual!

The fuse & relay for the spots is fine, as are all the bulbs - I know because when I connected the battery positive to the bare bit of the signal cable I got all four lights on. With the kind assistance of Deer Leap Isuzu in Aylesbury, we found the little black box behind the offside headlight that contains the main beam bridge/fuse, amonst others - all these are fine too. Flashing the lights at the stalk, I found a relay clicking under something else on the offside inner wing just behind the battery. This can't be related to the spots circuit as there's no current in that signal wire.

So presumably it's a relay for the mains?

Perhaps to switch power between the dips & the mains as the dips go out when I turn the mains on?

Would this be the bit that's gone or is there anything else in the circuit that we haven't found yet?

Many thanks for any assistance Very Happy -

- Ian W.
