I'm in the middle of installing a 2.8TD Trooper engine into a Land Rover and it is not overly obvious where to hoist the engine from. When it came from the vehicle dismantlers it had a strop around the alternator arm and the other end around the inlet manifold.

The inlet manifold would be ideal as it is central but wouldn't really want it to break when the engine is 4ft off the ground!

Any thoughts anyone?

Dear Pete,

I can't help you with the lifting points but I would be very grateful for any info you have about your conversion. I have access to a 2.8td and I'm thinking about putting it in my series 111 109. How much are conversion plates etc?
As I said any info on techniques or pitfalls gratefully received.
