I always use synthetic oil 10/40 when i change and it costs around £40 for the amount i need. Now then i can get the same brand of oil in a 10/40 semi synthetic for 4.99 a gallon on offer at the moment(usually 19.99.

My engine (3.2 v6 petrol) has done 167,000 miles, would semi hurt it? am i better off sticking to fully synthetic and just paying the extra? Someone has told me that on older engines semi would actually be better but i don't want to put it in and *beep* a perfectly good engine up.

Any help would be great

Thanks

Dylan

after 160000 miles it wouldn`t make any difference to use semi synthetic oil as long as it is the right spec 10w40 and its changed regularly
its the spec that counts with hydraulic tappets too thick an oil would be detrimental to there operation giving noisy top end
