would a blown gasket and cracked head give the same symptoms? just done the head gasket and seem to be getting the same symptoms as before also can hear water rushing thru the passenger side footwell when i accelerate does anyone else know of this?

Yes they can, and also a porous (spelling?) block will do the same.

When you did the head gasket did you have the head skimmed? If not, that's the most likely cause.

You can hear water rushing inside though? sounds like it might just be a split pipe somewhere?  What were the original symptoms?

yes i had the head skimmed, the original symtoms were loss of water but no visible signs of a leak, some oil in the water expansion tank and it was very slow to heat up when it did get hot and the vehicle was stationary there was some smoke/steam?(white/grey) not sure which coming from the exhaust, also alot of pressure in the rad when i took the cap off hot or cold and a little bit of mayonaising on the dipstick ( not the oil but further up where the squigly bit is ).

The water rushing noise could be air in the heater matrix, not a complete airlock thats why you can hear water moving.

What type of engine?

3.0 dohc trooper, heard alot of bad stories about them on here, maybe im just paranoid but i dont think so.  rr

Cast of alloy head? Think cracking heads are common on alloy heads, someone who knows more about the 3.0l will be along soon Wink

You will find lot's of bad stories on any forum, thats what it's here for.

I think the early 3.0l were alloy, then they changed them to cast.
