fuel filter wires? by-pass fuel filter?

1989 2.8di turbo intercooler bighorn.

what are the 2 wires for at the bottom of the fuel filter?

also to check for air leaks at the fuel filter housing can i bye-pass it temperarily with a normal plasticky inline filter?

To bypass the filter I think that the inlet to the filter should bolt into the injector pump inlet??? You might want to try an transparent inline filter due to air coming in from the tank end (the pipes on the top of the tank corrode)

The 2 wires are for the 'there's too much water in your fuel filter' sensor - It might have a propper name Wink

What problems are you getting, hard starting, bad running??
