On a TV programme last night it was claimed that some diesel engines can run on pure rape seed oil without modification - does anyone run a trooper on rape seed oil ?

Rape oil when it comes into the silos at the farm is very very light, and yes diesel engines will run on it with no modifications. Although, probably more recommended for DI engines in things like tractors rather than more refined diesel engines Wink

I run my 3.0 on 50% veggie and I only use rape seed because it is very light (I've run short distances on 100% with no apparent difference in performance), it is more resistant to winter waxing and it's not a food crop per se and it's grown in the UK so the lentil-munching sandal-wearer within me feels a little better about it! Oh - and it's invariably cheaper! Laughing
