If its purchased from an outlet then its just like buying normal diesel(they sell a blend at morrisons), if you make it yourself then I think its 2000 litres a year before you have to pay tax.
It becomes illegal if its mixed with a fuel that is exempt from road duty such as kerosene/parrafin or red diesel. _________________ |

4.2.1 Exempt producers/users
If you have produced or used less than 2,500 litres of:
any biofuel, or
any other fuel substitute or additive
within the last 12 months, and/or expect to produce or use less than 2,500 litres in the next 12 months, you are an exempt producer and do not need to register with us and account for duty. However, there are simple record keeping requirements, which are described in paragraph 4.9.1.
Production includes the manufacture or processing of road fuel, and the setting aside of any product that has not been charged with duty, with the intention of using it as road fuel. |

Its a grey area and not one to worry about too much
Nobody can buy Road Duty paid bio diesel for under 85p
Or if they can please let me know
Most is priced between 65p and 75p depends on quality
This is for off road use only you have to collect it cans and cannot put it into your car at the site
HOWEVER there are no chemical markers like the red diesel
So you could have made it yourself !!!!!!!!!
or bought a certain quantity duty paid !!!!!!!
SO I AM SURE YOU CAN WORK IT OUT
keep your receipt for the road duty paid quantity
should you get stopped afew months down the road
please let dear mr customs know that you have only just poured it into your car
other wise he may think it strange it lasted you so long !!!!
cheers |

Some of us get ours for 75p and it comes out of a pretty green pump directly into the tank. _________________ |

So Marky moan are you saying you get Road Duty Paid bio diesel with a receipt for 75 p a litre
Because thats a bargain ............. the duty alone is . 26 p a litre
that would make their off road bio diesel .49p ltr
and it does not matter how gay the pump looks
by the way are you a 3.1 or 3 ltr trooper man
I find the 3.1 loves it
the 3 ltr takes abit of starting in the morning

I think we live in different worlds, the stuff I get is made from 100% used oil collected from local places, so about 12p at most to produce + they sell the 'soap'
Why do you keep banging on about off-road use and your local prices??? _________________ |

Do you understand the regulations for bio diesel and the definitions
the purpose you buy it for effects the amount of duty you pay
most bio comes from recycled oil but it costs them alot more than 12 p ltr to produce
here are the catergories and prices the duty makes the difference, this is from our local supplier
www.bioukfuels.co.uk
Biodiesel (road use duty paid) 99.9 p for vehicle use that is used on the public highway legally
Biodiesel (off road use) 79p for vehicle use off the public roads or agricultural use
Biodiesel - Heating fuel 74p........... for heating
Biodiesel - Generating Fuel 74p......for generators
best not to say much more about the duty and purpose you bought it for
there is no difference between any or tha above it all comes out the same tank
THE REASON I BANG ON IS TO TRY AND TELL YOU HOW TO AVOID A BLOODY £1,000 FINE IF YOU GET PULLED INTO
A CHECKPOINT BY CUSTOMS
Its what you say to them that counts
Yes we move in different worlds
I drive about 35,000 miles a year mostly towing
and get waved into vosa and customs checkpoints at least 6 times a year in various locations around the country
YOU probably only do 5,000 miles a year and have never been pulled in for check
So in the next message I will be Mr Customs and Ex
you can anser my questions |

Just to add, Morrisons sell B30 which is 30% Bio, are people expected to keep the reciepts??????
Most people dont even want one when they pay cash
Sooooo
Vosa man: mmmm bio, where did you get it
Driver: Morrisons
Vosa man: JEESH they charge the same for normal Derv there, why bother
There is a local garage that has B100 on the forcourt along with the other pumps but he charges £1.10 a litre unless you drive a taxi _________________ |

As a user of WVO and Bio, I can tell you from experience, that the Dipping crews have no concern in plant derived fuels. As long as your tank is 'red free' they are simply NOT interested.
A few friends have also been dipped ...........the dippers showed more interest in how it is made / how the car runs on it than anything else. |

I have to agree with Smoo, I have had my works Tranny pick-ups tank dipped about 1/2dozen times in the last couple of years.
We have a very large scrap yard a few hundred yards from our office so police assisted customs officers often setup camp and pull anything
that remotly resembles a diesel motor. two plod take a side each, tyres, lights and load a 3rd takes your details, whilst customs suck some fuel
up a tube, if it's red your in the *beep*, if it's clear/white they squirt it back, then as long as plods happy your away and they set about the next one.
Not once have I ever seen them check diesel type other than by the colour thats sucked up the tube "Red or Not-Red" _________________ aka x66dag

So marky
Your brothers and your chauffeur will understand what i was saying
and not telll me I was banging on
and even you seem to grasp it now ....... although its not the VOSA man its customs and excise man
BACK TO THE QUESTION
yes your safe and legal on Bio regardless of the source, and purpose it was sold to you for
provided you do not admit to an illegal act
hence me banging on about on road off road use
so the anser to a tank full of bio I bought at bla bla garage on the forecourt at £1.10 a ltr
no i do not save my receipts
you can not say morrisons because they can tell % of bio or diesel
cheers |

The point is that they dont care or check, and anybody running trucks would be stupid to buy without a reciept as fuel is running costs and deductable.
We as private users can use/produce 2500L a year without the need to provide proof, if you buy the 65p untaxed stuff and throw a litre of veg oil/diesel/petrol in then you have produced the final product.
But seeing as they dont care then there isnt much point _________________ |
