been given a combo va with isuzu 17d in it the guy who had it before tried jumping it but he put jump leads on wrong way ie plus to neg/neg to plus he said there was a flash at back of alternater ive put a good battery on it starts and runs perfect but batt light stays on could alt be goosed a mate mentioned charge relay are they the same as trooper cheers  Smile

I would think if the flash was at the back of the alternator then the regulator blew from the wrong polarity so i would personally start there. Have you checked the battery voltage with it running? Or tried turning on the consumers in the car to see if they work? There's a place near us that can actually test the alternator for £25 which is always worth a shot. As for the relay, i'm not sure with the combo's but you could always tri it - probably the cheapest option!
