|
|
Hi All,
Anybody else had this problem?
The shocks are Pro Comp E9000 and only 2 or 3 years old.
The Trooper feels fine when driving and I'm wondering if the garage is not used to off road vehicles!
Worse, it appears Explorer Pro Comp in Lymm has gone out of business. Website all but down and telephone number no longer in use
Life time warranty is going to be pretty meaningless unless anyone knows of an alternate Pro Comp dealer in the UK.
Cheers,

Well this seems to be bull. Hard braking causes the car to dive maybe 4" and then 2 little bounces of around 1-1.5" - Hardly negligible dampening.
I'll be taking it to Monksheath Isuzu for their input...
When I dig out the original invoice I'll confirm the correct model number (Pro Comp ES9000 front 0-1" lift - model no. 915510) was fitted.

It should only really bounce once, sounds like your shocks are past their best. Don't forget using them off road is a whole different kettle of fish with regards to longevity to using them on road on smooth (ish) tarmac. _________________ Phil

Well I haven't got too much time to piss about so have used it as an excuse to do the all-round upgrade I wanted when originally fitting the Pro Comps! :-DDD
Ordered the following from TBR (offroad24.co.uk) :-DDD
OME N65 - Firm Front
OME N15 - Firm Rear
OME 919 - Firm Springs |

Well the Shocks and springs have arrived.
The springs look extremely well made and are wonderful. Sheer quality finish.
The shocks however are unfinished with swarf around the welding and cracks in the actual (very poor) weld of the mounts. If these last 2 years I will eat my hat.
The internals may be alright but frankly the pro comp was a far superior product in its exterior manufacture.
Still, time will tell but if this is the quality now coming out the factory expect OME Nitrochargers Division to be sold or bankrupt very soon.
Hard to believe they are stamped with Made in Australia cause it's a long time since I've seen such tat.
Oh yeah, nearly forgot... I was sent N42 instead of the N15 I ordered. Any one know if this is a problem?
Cheers,

We need to play swap, I think my shocks where made by Brunel, I feel every slight bump like being on a milk float _________________ |

Well the garage ordered and fitted their own shocks (brand X?) on the front by mistake so have agreed for it to go back and have the OME shocks fitted.
Not overly impressive but at least MOT is now good for another year. The ride has firmed up somewhat at the front and highlights how soft the car is at the rear.
Pending confirmation on suitability of N42 for rear shocks before having them fitted. |

Well I never got back to TBR about the N42 and the garage rang this morning to say they were too long for the springs
Not a great surprise really. Called TBR but goes straight thru to msg so waiting on email response.
Be extra labour charge from the garage but hey ho it's a local family business. |

Apparantly the N15 rear shocks had a wider mounting and the bracket needed widening a little but no so much as to imping the thru bolt so all's well.
Now I just have the bother of arranging a courier to return the other shocks.
Ride hight noticeably higher (which is nice!) and virtually no body roll on roundabouts. Firmer ride but tarmac mostly smooth, but mounting the pavement wasn't too harsh. Plenty of pot holes in my part of the world so will provide update in time. |
