according to auto data 318 tds was from 94 and chain driven But then auto data have quite a few mistakes even if they have the years wrong the chain part is probably right as most of the bm's were chain |

You sure 1987?? That'd make it an E30, there's not a 318tds listed for an E30. If it's a 1997 it's an E36, and it'll have a chain. _________________ landcruiser 80 series 4.5, 35's/33's for road, 2inch lift, discreet winch, sliders/armour, factory lockers, stainless side exit +++++ |

Er might be a 97 and you might be right . But its broke the chain or lost it as the cam dont move and the timing covers not broken .
Do they have 2 chains ,one to the injectionpump and one from there to the cam ? _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

Usually 2 chains yeah, all the others are like that, never worked on that engine that in depth! it's possibly broken the chain if the cam isn't turning, not sure if it's on a centre bolt for the cam sprocket though. be worth popping the cam cover off for a look. I'll have a look on epc see what it consists of, our older tech might know a bit more about them and if chains are common. _________________ landcruiser 80 series 4.5, 35's/33's for road, 2inch lift, discreet winch, sliders/armour, factory lockers, stainless side exit +++++ |
