I would recomend a Leyland-Daf with a Cummins engine. Bulletproof. Assuming you are looking at a 7.5 tonne vehicle.
£175 a year tax last time I looked too! |

yes I am figuring that an 'up to' 7.5Te wagon is where we should be - that will be on Drivers licenses from pre-97 and C1 if I am no mistaken?
So - a DAF & Cummins - out of interest which Cummins would that be? Not an LT10 by any chance [rubs hand with glee at the thought] - thats what we run in our Diesel Hydraulic PP's at works so knowldege and spares would be good !
So as Model numbers go- what would that be? _________________ If you google google it breaks the whole internet |

Yes, 'up to' license. I'm not sure which Cummins engine, I just know that the one under me was RELIABLE!
The Daf-Leyland was a good chassis too. Easy to drive and good visibility. |

If we are looking at a choice of engines......I will plump for a 6/71 Detroit Diesel! Just for the sound! |

I used to think a Bedford TK was nice to drive until I drove something more refined like a Ford _________________ |

Marky -
number 3 :
http://www.horsedeals.co.uk/horseboxes,-trailers-and-tractors-for-sale/horseboxes-for-sale/Iveco-3-Horse-Box__27-7-10-346216
Does look pretty interesting to me too. Local, Cheap (ish?) and a little spit and polish before the horse *beep* all over it and it could be a tidy little number !
Change out the cupboard doors for new Screwfix specials, and a tin of Hammerite in the rear on the Iron work and could be good.
I just know *beeb* all about Wagons, ad don't want a Plum !
Are any right dogs etc. _________________ If you google google it breaks the whole internet |

If its plated then there is no dodgy plates its done by the gov so thats piece of mind, it looks like it was proper made from new so I would look for the same things you do with a caravan, damp patches and the internal structure.
Best thing is to take a horsy person with you that knows the ins and outs of the box and where they rot etc. _________________ |

Oh dear.
Just set the ball rolling and emailed them !
This has got to be worth some beer tokens / passes from SWMBO !!!
The only fight I see now is she will argue to get rid of the Trooper - we bought for pulling a Horse Trailer !
It has wonderfully fitted a gap for me though as a Dog / Winter / General purpose hack that compliments my MK1 MX5 - !
There could be spilt milk, but it does seem a bit daft.... the two of us and:
Freelander 2 - for all things smart long distance.
Trooper for the opposite !
my MX5 because I have had it since 98 and it is my little Triggers Broom and I love it as my general daily drive.
And a Sodding Big Wagon for Dobin.
Barking mad ! _________________ If you google google it breaks the whole internet |

Those wagon things are full of fleas and foot and mouth and blue thingy, stick with the towable one, it makes sense if its parked up most of the time

you know, oddly enough I was more or less always against the purchase of a Wagon before because it seems wasted to have it sat therefore so long unused in comparison to the Trooper / Trailer comb that has the Trooper used 3 to 4 times a week, and the trailer once a week.
Perhaps a little extravagant. _________________ If you google google it breaks the whole internet |
