Hi all, this will probably cause a chuckle or two but serious question on my part. Ok, just changed the plugs on my M reg 3.2 V6 petrol/gas conversion. There is oil in the spark plug tubes. Is it supposed to be there? if not do I have a problem and how do I solve it or is it just one of those things. If it is supposed to be there, do I have to change it? if so how do you do it.
New to all this so any help would be appreciated Confused  Confused  Confused  Question  Question  Question

The 3.2 has plug seals and eventually they harden allowing oil to seep past and go down to the plug, The parts to fix are 2 x rocker cover gaskets,,,, 6 x plug seals. £40 - £50 altogether for parts, Now looking from the front the right hand side of the engine is straight foreward but the left involves quite alot of stripping down, I did the right side and didn't bother with the left. Usually unless there is an extreme amount getting past it does not affect the running of the truck Wink

thanks Dylan, not getting past the seals so that seems to be ok. Had one seal that was split and rubbish but have another truck for spares and have changed that one. Think I will wait till it becomes an issue before stripping down as I have all the gas stuff there as well to take off. Silly buggers put the electronics right over the middle plug on both sides so that was a struggle.

I dont think you quite picked up what i meant, When you take the rocker covers off there are 3 plug seal in each one, It's these that harden and let oil through. Its not the stem of the plug lead that i mean.

They look like this
