Because I have put my application in to become a member of the 4 X 4 Response team in my area, there is a list of equipment that is required.
I have put all the recommended stuff together but not knowing what circumstances may throw up, I have added a few other bits!
So it has become the ‘OFF ROADING AND CALL OUT BOX’.
Just chuck it in the back when I get called out or go off-roading or greenlaning.
Waffle boards are on the list and I am still thinking about a high-lift jack.
Some stuff is for my own comfort! Tea and coffee, soup and rice pudding,
and warm clothing.
The list is here.

Good list of gear. A bundle of cable ties and bodge tape can come in handy, I also have a couple of boxes of various nuts and bolts etc, they've come in handy even helping a biker out. From a personal choice I keep a tow strap easy to hand and a couple of shackles easy to get to (on the grab handle on the inside of the rear door) but that came from marshaling incase of emergency. A decent pair of wheel chocks, handy for wheel changes and winching, an air compressor comes in handy. Fire extinguisher, most important thing to remember above all of that, it'll help you out of many situations and no off road vehicle should be without it..... a big hammer _________________ landcruiser 80 series 4.5, 35's/33's for road, 2inch lift, discreet winch, sliders/armour, factory lockers, stainless side exit +++++ |

Got a hammer! After all if a hammer doesn't fit use a bigger hammer! Got a dry powder fire extinguisher in the passenger footwell. It came with the truck.
For competition they recommend foam. I don't know which makes more mess!
I do carry tywraps, hose clips, wire, insulating tape, self tappers, nuts and bolts, relays, bulbs and stuff like that in a plastic bag under the bonnet! That's where the jump leads live too.
I will put some gaffer (I was in the music industry!) tape in. And, thanks, the wheel chocks are a good idea. I have some 4" x 4" wood so I will have to do some
glueing and screwing. Or, I might check out a lorry breakers 'cos they sometimes carry wheel chocks.
I want to fit an air compressor to the vehicle. I did it to the transit I used when I was drag racing. The compressor was an american A/C pump, a piston type.
The modern rotary type are lubricated with a lubricant in the refridgerant.
Perhaps a compressor off a lorry. An air tank off a lorry and a pressure switch. The A/C pump is better because it comes with a pully and 12 volt electric clutch.
Generally I won't need to have all this gear in the truck, but if I am called out or if I am off roading, I can chuck the box in and strap it down.
The only thing that is certain is that I will pass the CRB check! |

I'm only thinking that if my rear bumper falls off I can fix it back with the duct tape. |
