Hi,

I have a 1998 3.0 trooper that has had a few problems with the alternator. New glow plugs were fitted last year and I have just fitted a new alternator. Does anyone know why the glow plugs carry on drawing forty amps of current for about four minutes when the engine has started? Is there a temperature sensor that should cut in? Any help would be appreciated.

thats about right doesn't sound like you got a problem but it's probably why they do tend to eat glow plugs!
