Hi all,
I have a new brake caliper for the rear and went to replace it over the weekend when I found I needed 2 little brass washers for the banjo connection from the brake hose to the caliper.
I popped down to my local All Parts and the guy there looked in several brake hose boxes and could find no washers.
So I thought I would phone Milners this morning and order a brake hose hoping that the washers would be supplied but they are not.
Any ideas where I would get these brass washers?
I have a day off work tomorrow so am going to pop along to my Isuzu dealer in Isleworth in the hope they can help.
Didn't think this would be a problem.

Hello Martin
I'd be very suprised if you couldn't get these from a regular motorist discount shop or halfords ........ I have a box of assorted copper washers, most garages (small) would carry these boxes, larger dealers you either need to get past the reception area or have a part number.

Just phoned Isuzu who will have to fax off my request to lookup microfiche records as the model is "so old".

I wonder what I'm going to do if they can't help.
I'll keep you posted.

Try a good old fashioned motro spares place. My mate up the road has boxes of this kind of thing, copper washers trim clips etc etc.

Hi there, when I needed a copper washer sometime ago on a Sunday afternoonand didn't have one of the right size I drilled a 2 pence piece and filed it to size. So long ago now I can't remember what it was for but I suspect it was for a Morris 1000 or something like that. Best of luck

Hi all,
Thanks for your replies.

A guy down at All Parts gave me a box of assorted copper washer free of charge which was nice of him and although almost the right size they are to thick. Me thinks I need the correct ones as there's a small pipe located very close and if the washers to thick the pipe won't fit into the housing.

I'm still waiting for Isuzu to come back to me, hopefully this afternoon, but in the meantime I had a thought. ouch!

Sometime ago I managed to find and buy a caliper repair kit which I ended up not using. Now I'm wondering if that came with the copper washers in question. Problem is where did I put that kit Smile
I'll have to hunt it out this evening and have a look.

Jon,
Thanks for the offer of trying to sort me out a couple of washers.
I may come back to you on that.

I'm hoping the weather stays dry for Saturday as if I can't finish the brakes,
I'm going to replace my leafs and that should be the last job hopefully, apart from the brakes of course before the MOT.

Fingers crossed.

Thx everyone I'll keep you posted, Martin

Hi all,

Been chasing Isuzu all week for an answer on my brass washers and today they said that because their franchise is not as old as the MK1, that they are not MK1 trained therefore Isuzu will not answer their queries on MK1s.
I've got parts from them before.
Make of that what you will.

Anyway got a number for a company called Hunt & Kiel. Don't know who they are but it sounds promising.
Apparently these rear washers are not actually shown on the microfiche.
They show the front ones so my job now is to go away and measure the fronts and backs to see if they are the same and if so they can supply them.
For anybody that's interested the front washer measurements are External diameter 16mm, Internal Diamter 10.2 mm

Sorted out my caliper kit last night but no luck there although it came with a nice diagram of the caliper which I scanned into my PC, so if anybody needs a copy just let me know.

The saga continues..............Martin

Thx for all the replies guys.
I'm going to stick my head underneather the trooper tomorrow and check out those washers once and for all while I'm fitting some new leafs.
It looks dry for tomorrow so fingers crossed.
I'm going to try Hunter & Keil on Monday for my washers and if I have no luck I'll come back to this thread for your recomendations.
