My van just started to over rev and the only way to stop it was to stall the engine. This caused oil to go every where and make the engine sound very rough. The engine will start but i need a service manual also. Any helpers or advice welcome.

HI Graeme.
sounds like you may have had too much oil in the engine when this problem started.!this causes the the oil pulling up into the cylinders and pre ignights. the other option is !! check the throttle cable for burrs in the cable for snagging inside the outer sheath. hope you find the problem.

I may be wrong but the 3.0 is fly by wire with no throttle cable to the best of my knowledge. Question

Check the turbo, remove pipe from turbo to inlet manifold or intercooler if fitted and look for excess oil in this area, if the turbo seals fail then oil will be pumped straight into the intake side off the engine which can cause over rev and excess exhaust smoke. In some cases you cant switch the engine off and have to stall it .

Check the impeller vanes for obvious damage and excess side play, be carefull when checking side play as turbo impellers run in axial bearings which are designed to have some side play,( many a turbo has been changed for this reason and theres no fault), you may be able to get some help from a local diesel engine or injection specialst.

Check with your local Isuzu dealer to see if your car has been modified as part of a safety recall to cure this problem. This will include turbo replacement ,injector seals ,and a couple of other associated items .If you need anymore info let me know as I have a copy of the parts replaced including part numbersThis is free of charge except for the cost of oil and a filter. Very Happy
