I'm going to run my trooper on bio/svo/wvo/mix and would like to run my twin tank plan past you guys in case there are any obvious flaws.
My plan is:
2nd tank of 'fuel' -> 12v fuel pump -> 3 way solenoid valve -> diesel filter/engine
Was thinking of a dual throw switch to seamlessly change which pump was active and the source for the solenoid valve. I don't want the bio mixing with the normal diesel at this time so would I be OK just feeding the return line back into my 2nd tank (I don't mind the diesel mixing with the bio)?
I welcome any input. |

Oh it's a 3.1, from the wealth of information on this forum I know not to do things like this to a 3.0. |

Had another thought. Would I get away with using a non-return valve in both fuel lines and a Y splitter before the filter/engine instead of using a 3 way solenoid valve? |

You will need 2 return pipes or it will just empty one tank into the other _________________ |

I too have a 3.1 that runs on anything from lard to dinodiesel. re your 2 tank idea, where would you be putting the second tank? I would be interested in carrying an extra 50 litres save stopping with the caravan so often

I have found space for a 22l tank in the back. On the passenger side. The wheelarch on that side is smaller than the other. You will need to plumb both returns or otherwise you will be doing silly mpg while on diesel. A trooper doesnt really need to be twin tankex. I dont bother with diesel in the summer because it starts fine on veg. Just make sure you have a pair of decent batteries (I have a pair of varta 95ah batteries 1660 o cca between the two).
The best mods you can do to a trooper is to put a nice new big bore pipe from the tank (I have put 13mm ID pipe all the way to the tank) and the other best mod is a flat plate heat exchanger. _________________ 1994 Isuzu Trooper 3.1TD 146,000 miles - Now dead
