I have a 92 lotus bighorn auto and the gearbox is very smooth and does not behave like that, I would be inclined to think thst was not normal, mabye someone with mechanical experience out there could advise

it's funny when I bought my bighorn I had a real problem losing overdrive and tacho reading it just kept kept falling out of overdrive every couple of miles I though I had a real problem, I topped up the gearbox oil as part of a service it never happened again! sometimes its so obvious
