750kg unbraked
2500kg braked
This is dependeant on vehicle condition of course. If the engine is shot it won't pull a wet paper bag as they say. If the car is in good nick then the above should be easily acheived. _________________ Flashman

Just for your information:
Maximum permissible towing loads are included in the vehicle registration book here in Germany and mine quotes 3500kg! Maybe Isuzu in the UK isn't quite as bold and settled for 2500kg. |

I am not sure what you are planning on towing, but if it is a caravan, the recommendation for inexperienced towers is that the caravan's maximum loaded weight should not exceed 85% of the towing vehicle's kerbweight. I believe that the LWB Trooper weighs in at about 2000KG, which means that the 85% recommendation comes out at 1700KG. For more experienced towers, it is recommended that the caravan can go up to the kerbweight of the towing vehicle, but that it should not exceed this figure. I appreciate that these figures are probably below the legal figures, but, particularly on long journeys, you do not really want to be towing something that exceeds the kerbweight of your vehicle; there is the danger of the "tail wagging the dog". However, the good news is that the LWB Trooper should be able to tow any caravan that is on the UK market at the present time, even the big twin axle models. |
