Seeing as how extra lamps are of special interest at the moment, some members might find this useful....
I recently got around to fitting the 'Ring' spots to my Bighorn.....the ones that my Fronty wore before it 'passed on'.
The onset of winter has really highlighted how poor the Bighorns std lights are...and even a pair of Ring 50% brighter bulbs didn't quench my thirst for more light......so the extra spots were a must.
I like the 'nekkid' look of my Bighorn without nudgebars....and I couldn't stomach the thought of drilling holes in it's bumpers....and as lamp mounts don't seem to be readily available, there was only one sensible alternative....
...so, a few feet of flat bar, and a couple of hours bending and welding produced these....
...which bolt on quite neatly here:
...and look like this when the grill is replaced:
...and when the lamps are fitted:
The piece of flat bar with a single hole at each end (in first picture) bolts horizontally between the two lamp mounting bolts, and provides lateral stiffness.
I'm pleased to report that the lamps don't vibrate or 'shimmer' at all 8)
...and as the front of the lamps are exactly level with the front of the vehicle, they're also useful as a parking aid for the wife
*legally, they might be a tad high....but hey!, 5 minutes spannering before the next mot and they're safely in the back of the motor..... |

Nice one! How much to make me a set? |
Normally I'd say just the cost of materials.... but your request has come at a bad time, sorry
I'm having some surgery done on my spine next week and I won't be able to do anything interesting for a couple of months.
But I can always knock up some better instructions that a half-competent d.i.y'er, (with access to a mig welder) can follow ? |

Look good OK and very functional, but I wonder what the Road safety people would say about your 2 "spears"?
Maybe you should make them from marshmallow? _________________ 1999 Cougar with a NICE motor..

what's wrong with them ? there are a couple of lamps proud of them and they dont appear to project past the bumper . 10/10 for quality of work Geoff and lets hope the surgeon is just as tidy

I am with you 100% there, I had spinal surgery last year (Double PLIF) and I'm still not right. (I never was, according to some folks around here!) _________________ Cheers

You can always do like the SVA'a wrap them in pipe lagging and then take it off later. These tests are OK but only valid for the time its being tested, as there isn't much relevance once you are back on the road.
Great subtle way of fitting them, if only I could weld! _________________ LotusTower - '93 Lotus Bighorn |

I tried to fit some spots recently and found because the bumper is a box section under the plastic there was no way of fitting te securing nut, also they protruded over the front of the bumper and didnt look to clever.
My remedy was to place them behind the grill where is loads of room, I may have to watch the water temperature in the summer incase they block to much air flow. Just made a braket by bending some galvanised roof ties ( a couple of quid from B&Q) at least they wont rust.
If any one wants any pics let me know _________________ 3.1 Duty - horse trailer puller & fun in the mud |

Nope, looks like your picture host doesn't allow direct linking. I use www.photobucket.com, they definitely do. _________________ Phil
