I'd read about this  'one winch  - 2 way pull' trick but not seen one in action ,quite neat . Rope goes through a sleeve in the chassis so you can pull at the front too .Fronty sounded nice but didnt seem to get about too well seemed to be digging rather than gripping !

And next is a Belarus tractor !  Notice wave about to swamp suzuki man on left  Laughing

An its 3 all stuck ,one at the fronts a winch challenge truck too so I rekon he should have got wet and ground anchored out ,pulled out by the 6x6 Zil behind the trees .

A toyota and it was running ok  Shocked

Its an idea that some winch challenge zooks use so they have one Gigglepin GP83 on the rear to help with balance on drop offs too  Gary but on those the ropes straight off the top of the drum up the tube  to the front and you pull a loop out the normal  fairlead which is on the back  and stick a snatch block in .

Q for you - can you winch youself backwards with a front mount winch ?  Shocked  Confused  Rolling Eyes

I reckon you could do it but you'd need something to guide the line.

Yup but its a PITA if you are bogged down as you need to run the cable to a rear fairlead.

Bloke  (ex REME ) was showing those who were interested today , you need 2 snatch blocks and a 3 fixed points and you dont really winch you drag the car backwards as the mechanical advantage is in the rear 2nd snatch block ! Its on utube on an aussie post as well .

Might be usefull one day  Smile
