Laning today, the river crossing was lower than normal.
Little video
Couple of pics
If the rain's been heavy the water comes over the top of these stepping stones and it's a very lairy crossing then
Still a fair bit of snow around on the lanes
Couple of vids of Sheepwash Bank, they really don't do it justice
Andy bent his D/S trailing arm unbelievably badly after a hard landing on a large rock, it was making a racket and looked like he'd bent his exhaust and it was catching on his tyre, which partly it was, but his trailing arm was bent so badly that the rear axle had pulled round causing his D/S rear wheel to foul the front of the wheel arch, so in true Redneck engineering in the field style, we bent it back with the use of three bottle jacks and the handle of my Hi Lift. I haven't seen a trailing arm like that since I ripped one clean off the chassis a few years back.
Git R Done
And because I was at the front and had to keep running back to take a couple of pics, I thought I'd throw one in of mine, so it doesn't feel neglected

Here's how we managed to bend the trailing arm enough to get the bottle jacks in, we wedged the Hi Lift between the third member and the top of the trailing arm and then jumped on it.
I think we'll be welding some double V's on his trailing arms now, I've done this on drag links on live axles to stop them bending
Steve looks like he's praying to the God of Andy's ar$e crack

No but the noise sounded just like a shaft going, must have been the auto hub letting go, it sounded awful stood at the side of the motor, but it must have got it's teeth meshed back in again, it was OK after a couple of trys at the climb, then he bent his trailing arm as Mark says. The auto hubs want slinging in the bin.
We've broken loads of shafts on Sheepwash Bank in Suzukis, it can be a bit hard on them, three of us did one each in a qurter of an hour there one day. |
