|
|
with the kind help of a pal i have made and fitted a bashplate/sump guard out of 4mm steel sheet.
2ft square sheet, two holes drilled to the front edge secured to existing front bash platet by welding a bolt to the top, then measured and narrowed front edge to avoid suspention.
bend put in it by clamping to metal frame and jumping on it lol.
rear end goes just past the cross member behind the sump with another bend put into it.
used existing bolts to fix angle iron to attach the rear.
all in all it took 2 hours including a beer break from start to finninsh.

I'm quite happy with it , it's not the finished article the bolts need trimming and it needs a coat of paint
But it's going to prepare my sump well. |

Very nice, mines the same, except I threw the original guard away and brought the new one right up the front so it tucks up behind the bumper. |

just to answer Jacksdad whats up, those of us that were at the north yorkshire meet, on doing some of those lanes where the rain had washed away the tracks making travel down some of the lanes difficult, one think stood out, which was previously covered stumps were then showing through and looking like Sump killers, and it was lots of good driving (lol) and more good fortune which let us all get out unscathed,
after then i put it on my must have list and in the end it turned out to be very easy to do. |

Hello again!
I'm looking at making a guard like yours
Do you have the dimensions by any chance? I can get the plate cut to size, and then just bend it to fit like you did!
I promise I'll tell everyone who designed it, honest _________________ 1999 3.0 TD Duty SWB
