I’ve seen references on this forum to rad weld/seal causing possible problems. Can anyone tell me what these problems are? The manufactures claim it’s suitable for all engines and cooling systems. I have a very slight weep on the radiator of my ’96 3.1td Duty and was thinking of trying the rad weld stuff first.

Rad weld will stop quite a lot of leaks but is only a temporary measure and if left in the cooling system will clog the heater matrix and some or the smaller pipes in the cooling system. Rad weld and other types like barrs leaks are ok for a quick fix (like if you plan to sell the car very shortly) but cost more in the long run.

Thanks for this Richard. I appreciate your reply and I'll have to look at getting the Rad fixed properly.

We took are rad out and had it recored and have not had a problem since. It was either too expensive or really difficult to get hold of a new rad so that was our only option. About £150.
