Its been a week, but my local dealer had Post Warranty Approval granted to fit THE new design injectors "straight from Japan" Dealer says the Japs are claiming this will finally fix the problems that the previous campaigns have failed. My oil level was rising with diesel but i caught it in time.
Fingers crossed. They had five Troopers to do, waiting for the new kits. |

Good news sip63. Every report like your leaves the rest of we 3.0l owners a little less worried over the future and better armed to defend our motors against the 2.8 and 3.1 sluggards

Good news. See my post, dated today, detailing Isuzu UK latest response to my letters. Under "ENGINES...... Engine Disasters".
Let's hope latest injectors do finally solve the problem. |

You targeted wrong David, and a Scottish one at that! But I do forgive you, and I envy your mpg: best I've managed was 30 mpg, in very rural, slow travel over a holiday week. Normal tank to tank consumption runs around 26, but I do a fair number of shortish town trips and I run air con most of the time, so that'll pull it down 10/15% I suppose.
Still it beats the hell out of my old Discovery 3.5L V8; best ever was 13.8 mpg, and then there were the repair bills.......second mortgage level, the stuff of daymares, never mind nightmares! Still getting occasional treatment from a specialist trauma team.
Cheers. |

Checked the oil today and its nice fresh green stuff (they must have flushed the engine) and its between the low and the high mark instead of half way up the zig zags!.......a joy to see. |

Magic!
And just think: your mpg will improve..... all diesel going to combustion now, instead of some to combustion and some into the sump!
Bet you're sleeping better too.
Cheers, and many happy, worry free miles.[/quote] |

Does this injector kit have a name or a number? I'm thinking of having one fitted even though my "grey" import is running fine (if a tad smokey). _________________ 1999 Isuzu Wizard

The recall is classed as an "Emissions Recall" - basically they fit new injectors and thats about it. _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

Thanks. Does that then fix the problem of exploding motors, if they haven't previously done so (exploded)? _________________ 1999 Isuzu Wizard

It should do assuming you have the sleeves etc doen at the same time. Probably best to give the guys at Cotswold Isuzu a call on 01993 776622 as they seem to be the most trusted garage on the 3.0 motors _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

All the recalls that were done here in Kiwi land were just for the sleeve seals. My 1998 Wizard got done about 6 months ago and its now got 85,000 KMs on the clock and running sweet.
The 4JX1 engine is a very clean running engine and there should be no visible emisions from the exhaust at any time.
I change my oil every 8,000 KMs and always do both filters and only use 5w40 synthetic oil so hopefully i will get a get a good run from it.
Cheers

Until about 6 months ago I was running specially imported Kiwi diesel, but for various reasons the importation ceased. Now I have to run 3rd world rubbish (Au$1.84/litre!) and my economy has dropped 10% and smokey to boot. It's difficult to know if the smoke is related to fuel quality or other issues. It;s running fine, not quite as smooth as it was with the better fuel. _________________ 1999 Isuzu Wizard
