hello

I think this is a common fault with the mk1's, but has anyone managed to keep the handbrake working?? Mine gets tightened, works for about 2 weeks, then gradually stops working.

and the rear pads still stick, even after changing the calipers. Hense the whale song each time I reverse (which I actually like, gives me old girl character) Laughing .

But it'd be nice to have a handbrake Twisted Evil

I too replaced the calipers and pads with little discernable effect.

Now I just avoid parking on hills, and adjust when an MOT is due Rolling Eyes

I had the same problem and fitted new calipers, pads and both end brake cables from the caliper as they had both seized.
I believe there are about 5 parts that make up the hand brake cable.
My hand brake has been working ok now (fingers crossed) for a couple of months.
