Hi all, I'm in the process of getting a 3" body lift kit. Does owt need extending or adjusting? After I've done the lift.
Cheers Joshua |

The clutch line is bolted to the bulkhead and will be nearly at full stretch too.
We had one that we lifted 3 inches and it was a lot more involved than my 50mm.
The tunnel will need cutting out if you want to be able to get all of your gears without modifying the gear lever. _________________ Frank |

Front and rear bumper mounts will need modifying, fuel tank filler pipe may need extending, and the 2 outrigger body mounts (roughly under the front seats) will need modifying too.
It's a case of check everything as you're going along, especially the brake / clutch lines running down the bulkhead. _________________

Cheer Dan that puts me at ease I might be getting some 35's when I can afford. Hopefully when I get to it bumpers won't matter any more. Hopefully as well I'm going to lift the tank up to get that bit further out of the way. |

Mines gone ok, now got 3" body and 3" suspension lift
The panhard rod has been extended, and I've had the front diff dropped 40mm, plus the top ball joints have been flipped
I need to check the brake pipes before I fit the +2" shocks tho, also watch the propshafts: I do need to lift the radiator as the rad hoses are at their limit stretch wise, as are the engine earth leads plus a few other bits of loom! I'm going to extend all the wiring just to get back some play, and the battery leads need extending as well....
Check the steering column, and the fuel tank filler and breather hoses
My gear levers are ok...just a bit lower down compared to where they were before
Think thats everything that I've found, but I've not tried the suspension extension yet...... _________________ 1999 3.0 TD Duty SWB

Then of course I need to get the tracking reset
Its a lot of work once the actual lift has been done..... _________________ 1999 3.0 TD Duty SWB

Oh, the headlights are a tad high now, even when dipped down as far as possible, hope the next Mot will be ok
And the intercooler to bonnet seal is now non-existant! not a massive problem on the road, but the first time I go under water the damn thing will get full of crud
Every time I think about it, I find something else that needs modding.... _________________ 1999 3.0 TD Duty SWB

A lot of work to fit 35's, I just did a 2" suspension lift
As said just check everything that goes between the body and chassis, adjust/modify as needed. Be worth a check with the insurance, some companies get funny about body lifts _________________ landcruiser 80 series 4.5, 35's/33's for road, 2inch lift, discreet winch, sliders/armour, factory lockers, stainless side exit +++++ |

When lifting it - lift it evenly, we lifted my brothers from the rear first and it pushed the heater matrix plastic pipes into the engine breaking them. So we had to change out the matrix.
As mentioned - go slow and check everything _________________ Frank |

Steering column will need extendng. Mine popped out when I first turned the wheel. When I did mine I lifted one side at a time. Watch for battery earths as well ... In fact spend a good deal of time before hand and look at anything that attaches to the body and goes to the chassis. Also be aware the inner arches lift by 3" and the engine and ancillaries don't. Watch for the intercooler surround interfering with the clutch master cylinder. Fuel pipe from the tank will need extending. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

If you are going to lift the body by 3" you should lift the tank a bit as well - that will give you a lot more clearance at the back and make it less likely to be damaged. _________________ Frank |

Very true Frank. Its something I plan to do with mine when it gets sunny. Helps the fuel pipes to the filler to reach as well. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

You might be able to but the bolts on the tank are nearly always rusty in my experience. We cut the mounts off then made new ones out of 50x50 box section then reused the old tank guard as it is pretty good.
If you are going to use this offroad and are a bit heavy footed I would recommend adding a few blocks along the chassis for the body to sit on. After a large jump in ours (3" lift) the entire body racked forward on the mounts. _________________ Frank |
