Hi all,
Interested in running my 2.8 TD Bighorn on Bio-Diesel mainly from a cost perspective! It's quite high millage (150k KM on the clocks) and got the usual oil smoke on cold start (think it's the turbo oil seals??). Anyone thing this will be a problem changing over fuels?
Also has anyone had any experience with Bio-Power LTD and the V100 fuel?
I have a supplier fairly local to me so will be giving it a go fingers crossed. |

Now your talking, a Sentinal engine, would fit nicely under the bonnet of a Trooper. Not too sure where the boiler or fire box might go. What a load of torque you'd have

After all this
I have just mixed 70:30 (pump diesal:co-op veg oil) [95p:69p]
if ok, I will run upto 50:50
my question is, which is the cheapest supermarket for veg oil?
Should I add a hint of Rosemary or Basil ?
cheers |

Maybe Plod will come up with a smell detector next to tell if you are using untaxed herbs in your chip oil _________________ Alwin

Morrisons/tescos about £1.36/3lt, about 46p/lt, note if you ain't paying the duty, alot of police forces are now syphoning fuel tanks and now know what to check for, you could be looking at hefty fine and confiscation of vehicle. hopefully the goverment will reduce this silly duty tax on bio fuel and start the rape oil revolution. |

so far i have not even noticed a difference with it
only that the car smells different in exhaust gases
so people can smell you are using even at 70:30 mix
thanks about Tescos off there today |

Hi all, I have been reading the threads with interest. I am in the process of setting up my own Biodiesel production facility, initially on a small scale. Anyone looking to source a supplier in the North Wales area the future keep in touch. _________________ Range Rover Classic with Isuzu 2.8 TD conversion. |

Hi Dooda
What do you mean by production unit? and whereabouts in this vast North Wales are you?
Having been raised on chips, but now on a 5-a-day and fibre diet for heart & diabetic reasons will I have to wear a charcoal mask to keep to this do you reckon?!!!!!

Daffyd
I am over in Prestatyn, not a million miles away. This thing about Bio diesel isnt as straight forward as some might have you believe. Get it wrong and you can cause expensive damage to your vehicle. I am looking at setting up a small production facility to test this concept out on my own vehicle using good quality equipment and approved suppliers of all raw materials. If it is successful then I might look at expanding to a commercial level but thats in the future. The amount of investment required to produce good quality Biodiesel is quite large even at a domestic supply level and so it may take time to get it established. As and when I get up and running I would be happy to let everyone know how it went and what the results are on a more scientific basis. _________________ Range Rover Classic with Isuzu 2.8 TD conversion. |
