Hi all,
Just found your club( now our club)I have had a manual 3.1td swb for a long while no probs (for sale) so have bought unseen on eebuygum a 1993 lotus bighorn 3.1 td Auto Just call me braveheart. Needed the extra space.
Struggled the 450 miles back to Scotland with this big noisy brute changing up and down revving its guts out when trying to overtake and all the probs I have just read on this clubs pages. Thank goodness I found this site because I was at my wits end thinking I had bought a right plumb.
I will try all the suggestions about overdrive etc thanks.
Can anyone tell me about the air con. When I put it on it runs for about 5 miles then blows the 7.5 fuse under the bonnet.
Also are all lwb Troopers noisy ? this one sounds like an old tractor with a carpet over it. Nothing from the exhaust just loud roaring noise and some times a squeal at low speed.
Been quoted £300 for a service is that about right?
At the moment I am sick as a parrot and wish I had never seen the thing but hoping a good service will put things right.
Regards to all Joe.

Greetings Joe, I know nothing about Troopers but I would say they are a little noisy but it depends on what you want from your car. I've just come down the M5 towing the caravan overtaking lorries (safely) no probs, It serves us really well and I dont worry if I'm on a muddy field I'm confident it will get me out of trouble.

PS mine squeals a little too......well a lot sometimes
