Has anyone heard of fitting a bigger turbo to the 3.0 motor?
I'm also looking at fitting a dump valve, be good for throttle response, and they sound good! _________________ 1999 3.0 TD Duty SWB

Dump valves are useless on diesels.
On petrols they are fitted between the turbo and throttle body. When the throttle shuts it takes a drop in pressure after the throttle to open the valve. This then allows the pressure built up between the turbo and throttle to be released to atmosphere.By releasing the pressure it doesn't cause a back pressure to stall the turbo every time you take your foot off the throttle.
Because you have a pump fitting a dump valve cannot be done. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

I was a bit unsure about the dump valve on a diseasel tbh...
My mate has fitted a bigger turbo to his Saab 9-5, plus other stuff, now making 400 bhp plus
And its front wheel drive......anyways, the turbo on the 3.0 isn't very big for the engine capacity, we are both pretty sure a bigger unit would make a huge difference!
Ball bearing units are a bit expensive (I've just slapped my credit card for the tunit) but I really like the idea of a modded engine, I've done everything else.....
I'd like to see 250 bhp after a turbo upgrade, its already (supposed) to be near 200 bhp now _________________ 1999 3.0 TD Duty SWB

Not sure if its a T3 or T4 flange but this one is probably like the one on the Saab .
MHI-TD04HL-19T . Good for 250bhp easy on a 3.0 .
Some far east copies on eee by it or used original ones ones. _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

I'm also thinking a front mounted intercooler will also be needed. Could be a bit of a squeeze as the winch is tucked up out of sight, but its do-able _________________ 1999 3.0 TD Duty SWB

I suspect the first issue you'll have is getting sufficient fuel?
Fitting a bigger turbo wont do anything unless you can also feed it more diesel, and given your tuning box is already turned up to 11, no-one can properly remap these things, and no-one makes larger fuel injectors, i suspect that will be your main sticking point stopping you taking it any further. |

If you have aircon, strip it out and see if a Frontera 2.8/2.5 FMIC will fit. Get the hoses as well and your laughing. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

Might be a bit on the large side....
My mate is scrapping his 3.0 LWB soon, its a bit rotten and has a slight fault on one injector: he's owned it for a few years and runs it on 10/40 oil....
Would be good to try a big turbo on it, see what happens _________________ 1999 3.0 TD Duty SWB
