Suddenly started being both hard to start [4JX1] and distictly clattery on tickover and up to 1500 rpm.
My Tech2 has become untrustworthy. [ wont clear DTCs and shows -40F on new temp sensor even when warmed up and air temp is 10C ]
Just wondering if another injector tip is cracked ... |

Should have added > Have done 'white wire trick' - made no difference at all so reconnected.
Have [long ago] put in a stay to hold unbroken oil pick-ups, to prevent vibrating and breaking.
Has run perfectly since trailered to Ethan at Old Mill a year ago (he diagnosed an intermittent crank sensor and changed it).
Used to start without touching any pedals.
Now, after flattening batteries … , needs 'air' on loud pedal to start.
MOT man (who works on his own diesel a lot ) says 'knockiness' sounds like too much diesel at tickover and initial acceleration up to 1500 rpm.
Suggestions welcome ? _________________ 02 3.0 Trooper

Temperature sensor - but I'll connect up untrusted Chinese Tech2 to see exactly what ...
Today discovered adding air makes no difference! It purely takes much longer to start than before. Clatters up to about 1500 rpm then seems to smooth out. Not sure whether to suspect another injector tip has a split ? _________________ 02 3.0 Trooper

SOLVED. Found white wire pin had pulled out at ECU connector !
So was starting on 'emergency' fuel - hence clatter.
Replaced and ran perfectly. _________________ 02 3.0 Trooper
