Good morning everyone.

My 2003 LWB insignia (3.0l) is in need if a fair bit of work and the deciding factor to fix or scrap is whether or not it needs a new clutch or not.
I’ve presumed it was on it’s way out due to the ‘symptoms’ describes below but further reading I’ve discovered that they are self adjusting so the biting point is always at the top.

Does this sound like “normal” clutch behaviour?
If I fully press the clutch down and lift up the biting point is like an inch and a half to two inches from the top of the pedal travel and pressing down about half inch from the top. So if im accelerating and I dab the clutch down about half inch it disengages and ‘slips’.

I really don’t want to scrap her but if she needs a new clutch on top of everything else I can’t afford to fix her right now. And I need a vehicle so would have to get something new.

Many thanks in advance.

wait till it starts to slip when driving it will let you know when it's ready it won't just suddenly stop working without giving you some warning first.....unless it's a 3.0l and the flywheel goes!!
