|
|
Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum...read all post regarding 4JX1 horrible injector
woes....although a little late!!!
Heres my story!!!
Engine overheated!!! saw at least 3 water bypass hoses had a crack,
replaced them all....still engine overheats.... checked the radiator water it had diesel in it, thats the reason i guess why the radiator hoses are somewhat bloated!!! Had the CylinderHead removed and had it checked
to a reputable machine shop here in Manila (BTW am from the Philippines)
Actually the Trooper is my Uncle's SUV, he told me that he had diesel on the radiator for several months already but he just ignored it.....and he overheated several times also upto the point that the car suddenly stalled.
thats the reason we took of the head so the machine shop can check for warpage and had it leak test on the injector housing....indeed it has warped and didn't pass the leak test as well!!! In short we got a brand new Cyliner Head, re installed all engine valves and new Valve seals, line boring of the camshafts, installed new rings, new waterpump, new injector seals, new gaskets and other seals..... in other words, major engine overhaul considering it had only 68,000km on the odometer. When we tried to start it, it wont start!!! Although it cranks good but it wont continue to start!!! Can you help me on this!!!! My mechanic told me like there was no current going to the injectors thats why it wouldnt fire up!!!
We even tried the current ECU/Trans. Box to another friends trooper to see if its ok, well it started ok thank god!!! (which means the ECU is OK).
Please HELP me on this... SALAMAT!!(thank you!)
Jonathan

eithan,
Pulldown the engine again, yes your right. ..we aligned the ring gear to the halfmoon cut shaped on the block at the 6 o clock position and crank on TDC.... put all back!!!! ... but it still wont start!!!
We tried putting lighter fluid on the throttle while cranking....and it would start right away especially when you step on the accelerator pedal on full throttle...its like theres no diesel coming out from the injectors???
my mechanic also notices the butterfly on the throttle doesn't close even when the engine starts due to lighter fluid injestions.... is it a defective TPS??? .... He tried to check the continuity of the TPS and it doesn't go to flat zero when he moves the inner part of the TPS... Please help me again on this!!!
We check again the cam and crank sensors and they all have power on the lines...we also check oil is going up to the cams... is it possible there is still air in the diesel lines??? thats why it doesnt fire through???
Read the other forums also regarding the Brake light fuse, its OK!!
read also cutting the white wire near the dipstick tube to see if the rail pressure sensor is ok... if it starts, replace the sensor... but it didnt start so i pressume rail pressure sensor is ok...
We also plugged an OBDII scanner to see if there are any codes....no codes detected!!!
Please HELP!!!!
thanks in advance!!!

if it's an auto the cut out has to go to the top this way the gap in the ring gear is at the sort of 1 o clock position the cut out only goes to the bottom on manuals. |

eithan,
its a 2001 Trooper with a 4JX1 engine automatic transmission,
is the ring gear with a gap should be in the 1 o clock position or
6 o clock position pointed at the halfmoon slope on the edge of the block?.... just like what you've said on your last post. ... when we did that, the no. 1 and 4 piston went TDC...but it still won't start!!!
Please reply back!!!
thanks again!!!

Eithan,
sorry!!! didn't catch that right!!! when you said "Auto" it means
automatic, i thought you where pertaining to a sedan car...
Gosh!!! my mistake!!! Will do that tomorrow!!
Is it faster or easier if we pulldown the transmission instead of the engine when making the necessary alignment on the ring gear???
Thanks again!!!

i find it easier to remove the gearbox myself and im pretty sure the cut out should be at the top on automatics if im right then the cut out will be in the 1 o clock position if it's not then put the cut out in the 1 o clock position as this is where it should be when no.1 cylinder is on top dead centre. |

Like what you've said, we pull down the transmission instead of the engine and re aligned the ring gear to the 1 o clock position... and put it all back.... and it just started!!! |

one more thing!!!
how do I reset the "check Engine" light?
It went out when the engine finally started, probably when my mechanic
was checking those sensors before it wont start...
tried removing the battery negative for 3 mins and stepping on the brakes for 25 secs (read in one of the topics here) but its still there! |
