Hi there,

My 1999 3.1 Trooper has two batteries running in parallel.
The vehicle was stationary over most of a hard winter in the Pyrenees.
Since then, I have had to use an external battery to start the engine.
Multi-meter tells me both batteries are at 11v.
Even after 20mins of driving I have no speedo or volt indicator and the wipers barely crawl across the screen, using the indicators is also not an option.
I have just replaced the power steering belt which squeals a little, but appears to be dragging the pulleys around ok.
I am about to buy two new batteries, but wanted to check whether anyone thought that the alternator might be at a fault?

Many thanks,
Matt

I would suggest you test the alternator first. If it is at fault its cheaper than 2 batteries.
have you got a Multimeter. If  If not I am sure a local garage near you can check it out.
