Sounds like it's an auto? If so check oil levels in the box, could also be worn UJ's in the prop or even excess backlash in the diff. _________________ Phil

its a 93K 3.1 TD , manual box , the noise sounds like its coming from left / middle back ( me sitting in driving seat ) , as i pull away it will travel a few yards then the clunk noise . |

possible i suppose , breaks feel ok , will try free wheeling , see if any things sticking etc .
could it be a free wheeling hub sticking on
on second thoughts though , i think the noise is a bit more central , could it be drive shaft |

Crawl under it and check for play in the prop/diff etc.
Also if you think the hubs, jack the wheels up and spin them _________________ |

As it's a 3.1 it may have the black rubber donut in the propshaft which seems to be there to damp the drive take-up like the split flywheels in some 2.8s as fitted to Fronteras. They do split _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

Sounds like the old rotoflex couplings on Triumph GT6's etc, that'd do it. If it's central then it probably is going to be either UJ's (I did mine last year after putting up with lots of vibration) or even play in the diff. If it has this rubber doodad then thats a good place to start looking. _________________ Phil
