sounds like rear u.j or centre bearing on propshaft, but i would say rear u.j favourite, get underneath and see if there is any up and down/ side to side play in prop |

Yep, I'd second that. New UK's are about a tenner each from Milners and the propshaft centre bearing (assuming its a LWB) is about £35 from a main dealer. Neither is that hard to change yourself if you have a selection of sockets, a big vice and a BFH. Access to a hydraulic press makes it even easier. _________________ Phil

Had funny noise from back of monterey(3.2 m reg)thought I had cured it by replacing uj's on the prop which were worn, but alas not. When pulling off there is a clicking noise from the rear and a judder which almost feels like one wheel is fighting the other.I have read on other posts about the LSD using some kind of clutch plate system,is this likely to be the culprit or should I be looking at another cause.Any help and advice greatfully received.Just remembered, there is now a vibration through the car. |

The wheels fighting is the LSD mine does it too.
The vibration sound's like the prop shaft??? did it go to a garage to have the UJ's done? maybe they didn't mack mark it before dismantling the UJ's??? |

It's normal for the LSD to make some noise (it says so on a sticker in the cab)
Mine was sticking a bit, due to corroded plates after the previous put a normal EP oil in, just change it for an LSD oil and forget about it.
I think there will always be some noise and drag when turning with allot of torque going through. |
