You usually fill an autobox down the dipstick hole, tedious and much easier if you have a little funnel.

you will find if you keep the engine running   gears in park it will fill quicker

it also needs to be running when checking the oil
1  fill it
2  shift through the gears
3  put it in park
4  check the oil
5  repeat untill level is right

Yep auto transmission fluid AFT, and it may have to be a Dextron type.

Says on the plate on my Mk 2 to shift through the gears, and put into neutral,  check when at operating temperature (Warm) and then check to top level on dipstick. But then again at the moment my transmission isn't actually connected to the engine, its sitting over a pit at the local garage waiting for a new Torq Conv. Embarassed  Embarassed

getting ready to drop the old g/box oil out of my 94 bighorn. its done 97000miles now, take it there is no oil filter in the box. i know some auto boxes have them (shoguns).  been on the  http://www.mann-hummel.com/mhuk/   website, doesnt show one. also is it easy enough to do, or is it worth taking it to a autobox spec?  does anyone know of one local to me who we can trust. flt fitter at work (old bloke who knows lots) reckons a good autobox specialist will adjust the gears as they tend to need adjustment after lots of milage.

the g/box to me seems to hold slightly in3rd before changing up. checked oil level (running&in p) fine. oil colour is not as pink as it should be,and doesnt smell nasty.

any advice welcome.   Confused
