I order to select the low ratio gear range one has (On the Mk 111s anyway) to press the 'shift on fly 4 wheel drive' button first because of the interlink.
My question is.... if you then switch out of 4 wheel drive but leave the low ratio lever alone does the 4 wheel drive actually switch out or await you changing to high ratio?? Anyone tried to check this out? I guess you would need some very slippery slopes to reach any conclusion.
To use low ratio (alone) for manouvering large heavy trailers would be handy on hard surfaces and reduce clutch wear.

I see where you are going with this Dafydd, I have used Lan... Landro... Landrove.. (sorry I just cant say it here!) - I have used the over priced UK 4x4 for manouvering trailers in low box and it does help - especially with front mounted towballs. _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

time to get the Brainiacs on it. _________________ |

On my 99 Bighorn 3.0 Auto, the Shift-On-The-Fly button switches between 2 High and 4 High.
To use low range, I have to engage the transfer lever to 4 Low. There's no way to engage 2 Low.
Not sure if this is the same on your trooper Dafydd. |

Its the same ... I think he was wondering if you could engage 4WD LOW then switch off the 4WD to give you 2WD LOW for use on the road... _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

Thanks for clearing that up Chris. My initial thought would be that the Shift-On-The-Fly button has no effect when in 4WD Low.
I'll try it out later today and see. |

You got it exactly right Chris.
I only want it for manouvering, which is the worst possible situation for Troop 4 wheel drive on hard surfaces.
Any knowledge anyone?

If all else fails, a set of manual locking hubs would solve the problem. _________________ |

Simple answer.... it confuses the system!
I tried it over the weekend and you need to shift back into 4WD then HIGH - pity, as this is one of the features the LR's have and we dont _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60
