The front and rear propshaft UJs' on my trusty 3.1TD have given up on me, and I was wondering how hard a job it is to replace them (£10 each from Milner). |

The UJs' on my trooper seem to have a cap on the outside of the holes, a mate said it could have crimped bearings, has anybody out there got a trooper with this type of UJ? |

I am no expert but maybe the caps can be flicked off _________________ |

I think some modern UJ's are plastic capped and they have to be melted off with a torch. I did mine on the MK1 and they were normal circlip type UJ's, they were a right bvgger to get out though, much swearing, squishing in a vice and pummeling with my trusty BFH. I had to give up on the last two and give it to a mechanic friend who whipped them out on a press. If you have anyone with access to a press it might be easier to take the propshaft off yourself and get them to press the old one s out and new ones in. Remember to mark the sections so they stay indexed (put em back together the same way) otherwise you'll have to have it rebalanced _________________ Phil
