hi fellow 4x4ers, im a newbie to 4x4s. just reactly bought a honda horizon (japanese isuzu trooper) 3.1 TURBO DIESEL INTERCOOLER on a L reg with the lotus pack. been smoking it about for the past week and im a bit conserned about the fuel its drinking. its doing about 22mpg (a lite foot) is this normal, if so is there any way i can get better fuel economy out of it, not doing any towing with it, reason for buying was good price and needed the space as i do alot of carp fishing and alot of shooting and work on the farm. been considering doing 50/50 veg oil mix just as an experiment has any one tried this.

Yup, it smells like a mobile chippy  Laughing

To be honest i have done 50/50 on my 2.8 without a problem, but i think 22mpg with a light foot is very bad for a 3.1, i would want nearer 30  Shocked

Just one thing, theres a quick warm up switch has anybody touched  it at all as it closes flaps that tend to stick and it would cause a fuel problem.

On the 2.8 one is in the inlet manifold and the other is between front pipe No's one and two.

Don't know about the 3.1's but the one in the exhaust would be the one to look at, shouldn't be too hard to spot.

There is a flap inside the exhaust that closes but may stick shut as they get coked up.

It will have an actuator or a cable going to it you should see it.
