Hello people, i have just got a 1992 3.1 Bighorn Irmsher Jap import. Its only done 39000 miles and is very tidy. the only problem i have is a diesel leak. I have looked from the top and you cant see anything, but from below it is wet below the fuel pump! I have checked all the pipe work and cant find the leak!!! I can only smell diesel when i start and stop, it is not leaving a mark on my drive much, but is wet underneath! Someone told me Troopers had a problem with seals in the pump. Is this true, has anyone else had a simular problem?  I am getting about 300 miles on a 60 pound tank full? Thanks Adam Confused

HI
sounds like the leak off pipes from the injectors
although this does put the fuel economy up loads
check under for fuel dripping when running
if lots of fuel then i recon its these
check these first as they do perish
i don't think its the fuel pump or the filter
as it would run like a pig
cheers
GM

some trooper pumps had problems
first thing to do is remove the rubber spray flap under the nearside wheel arch this will give a better view of the pump through the wheelarch then jet wash that side of engine and pump
then run the engine and check the pump for leaks while its running
depending where the leak is this type of pump will run the engine perfectly smoothly if the leak is on the low pressure side
common sites for leaks are where the throttle spindle enters the body also round where the top housing joins the main body
